Review: Flawless

Flawless Flawless by Jan Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was looking through books on amazon hoping to find one to catch my interest, this one popped up and I am so glad it did. I loved the book from beginning to end, as soon as I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I was looking for a book with a strong female character and I definitely found it.

Verena Valent is the CEO of her family's business a Swiss skincare company in Beverly Hills, her grandmother Mia had started it when she moved over from Switzerland with her husband. When her parents passed in a auto accident, Verena was forced to take over the company which she didn't mind because she loved helping people feel good and look their best. She was in the middle of expanding the company internationally when everything makes a turn for worst.
Verena meets Lance an executive chef at a conference she is speaking at, he is everything her fiancé Derrick is not. Verena is torn between the life she knows and the love she needs.

The characters are great, the author really knew what she was doing when she created them. Lance almost seemed a little too good to be true but he was still one of my favorite. Verena was the female character I have been looking for in a romance book she was strong, independent and definitely had a caring heart. I was so happy to finally read a good romance book that didn't have a lot of sex in it but still kept my attention, that in itself says something about the book.

I will have to give this book 5 out of 5 stars because I really could not find anything wrong with it. I will definitely have to find the other books in the Love, California series. I solute the author for creating such a great story.

New Book

So after all these years of reading books, I decided to write my own book.  I know it's a little far fetched but you have to start somewhere right? The title of the book is The Boss's Submission, it is a romance suspense with some erotica.  The first chapter is done but I'm still working on the second chapter.  Here is a link to the book please leave a comment to let me know what you think or maybe what I could change, nothing too negative please.

Fifteen Inches by Madison Faye

Not at all what I was hoping for.  I knew this would be a short erotica story, however, the grammar and spelling was what got me.  I did like the story line which is why I gave it 3 stars.  The bad grammar and spelling completely made me lose track in the book because I was trying to figure out what the author was trying to say.  I am still going to try and read some of the other short stories the author has done, I'm hoping it was just this one that I had to give a lesser rating.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

A heartbreaking story that will have you on the verge of tears.

Louisa Clark is a unique young woman living in a small town, with a steady boyfriend and close family. When she loses her café job she will do anything to acquire work. She takes a caregiver job working for wheel-chair bound Will Traynor, who was in an accident 2 years previously. Will always lived life on the edge, doing anything from extreme sports to world travel. Will has made a decision about his life, but Lou intends to change his mind.

I didn't know what to think about this one going in, however, I fell in love with the book almost immediately. The characters really grab your attention, and make you think about the situation that is unfolding. Will Traynor seems to be one of those high and mighty wealthy men, even after his accident he seems to talk down to Lou. One time during the story I even wanted to reach through the novel and slap him. As the story progresses you start to realize why Will is the way he is, and why he has chosen what to do with his life. I know a lot of people wouldn't agree with what Will's decision is, but I think if I were in that situation I would've made the same choice. I really liked Lou and her crazy way of life, I really connected with her on a more personal level because of her way of life. Lou is always dressing differently, getting treated differently at home compared to her younger sibling and just a generally unique person.

I must say I didn't expect the ending to be like it was, but that it meant in a good way. I loved how Will wanted Lou to live up to her true potential and live her life to the fullest. He never thought about himself only of Lou and what would make her happy. The author Jojo Moyes has a talent that is out of this world, writing a novel like this takes a certain person and she definitely has what it takes. I would recommend this author to anyone and would definitely recommend this book to everyone. One of the best books I've read in a long while.

Tess and the Highlander by May McGoldrick

If good looks and a taste for adventure are a curse, Colin Macpherson is destined for ruin. Until he ends up a castaway on Tess's windswept island, he's been roaming the seas, seeking fame, fortune... and a different girl in every port. But his fascination for this strong-willed lass goes beyond her wild beauty, intriguing him as no girl ever does.

As Colin gains her trust, Tess reveals what little she knows about herself and her past. From her scant clues, though, Colin comes to one conclusion: he must return Tess to the mainland to reclaim her birthright, even if it means losing her to a destiny that does not include him.

Not my typical kind of romance story. Don't get me wrong I liked the book, but I was hoping for a little more of the story. The characters were great, especially Colin; I liked Tess to an extent, but I think she could've been portrayed better. The ending was what really bothered me, it ended so quick that it was almost like a cliffhanger. There wasn't much of the villains in the story which really took away from the book. I would recommend this book to a teenager, however, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to an adult.

Too Wicked to Kiss by Erica Ridley

Evangeline Pemberton has been invited to a party at the sprawling estate of reclusive Gavin Lioncroft, who is rumored to have murdered his parents. Initially, Gavin's towering presence and brusque manner instill fear in Evangeline. . .until his rakish features and seductive attentions profoundly arouse her.

But when a guest is murdered, Evangeline is torn. Could the man to whom she is so powerfully drawn, also be a ruthless killer?

Absolutely loved the book!! There were parts that reminded me of the board game clue, however, it was still a very good book. I will say Gavin and Evangeline mad me so irritated on a few parts but in the end it was worth it. I'm kind of glad there was really only one sex scene, most romance books have numerous sex scenes which kind of makes you forget the story itself. I like the fact that there was a story behind both main characters that showed why they didn't want to be around people in general.

Two thumbs up to the author Erica Ridley, very well done. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future. I highly recommend this book to any romance lover.

Cara's Twelve by Chantel Seabrook

Raised in the backwater province of Crowthorne, Cara finds her fate bound to a system she despises and a goddess she no longer believes in. When it becomes clear that the heir to the Elbian throne has found disfavor in the eyes of the goddess Annul, Cara is ordained by blood and required by law to take her cousin’s place as heir apparent.

One man from each of the twelve provinces are chosen by the royal council to pledge their lives and swords as champions and consorts of the future queen. From these men, Cara must choose the future king of Elbia. Before she is able to take her place on the throne, Cara and her Twelve must visit each province and perform a sacred ceremony, one that will make Cara question everything she thought was real.

Cara soon realizes that not all of the men who swore to protect her are what they seem, and there are those who would use her as a tool to gain power.

I started reading this book thinking I would like it, I was so wrong because I absolutely loved this book!!! Cara's Twelve is one of the best books I've read in at least 2 years.

The characters were absolutely amazing, the detail put in to them made me feel like I personally knew them. This book had so much detail I felt like I could see everything in front of me, I could almost feel Cara's pain at different times throughout the book. I have to admit I cried at the end, not because it was a happy ending but because I felt like she chose the wrong person. I know it's only my opinion, and the author did a wonderful job of writing this story.

I would love to read more books from this author. She completely took me by surprise with this book. Great job!!!

The Bonding by Imogen Keeper

A Sci-Fi Erotica novel, that will keep you interested until the last page. The story starts out with Nissa, “queen-designate” of the planet Triannon. Nissa’s planet is being attacked; people are being slaughtered or turned into slaves. Nissa’s father decides to send 100 of their people into space in hopes of finding help. Tam is a warrior for his planet Argentus, he finds Nissa’s pod while on a lone mission. Tam saves Nissa from a deadly disease by giving her his serum (bonding).

Nissa wants to find her people and go back to Triannon in hopes of saving the planet; however, the bond with Tam is very strong. Nissa and Tam cannot be away from each other for more than a few hours without making each other sick. Tam can feel how much Nissa needs to be with her people, so he is willing to give her up just to make sure she is happy. Can Nissa and Tam handle being apart or will the bond be too strong for them?

The author, Imogen Keeper definitely made a very inventive story of erotic romance. I loved the character of Tam, he is strong, intelligent, sweet, sexy and of course book boyfriend material. Nissa’s character was irritating to me, because she was the stereotypical princess; she refused to believe that she actually had a connection with Tam. All Nissa seemed to care about was getting home to her planet. The book kept me intrigued the whole time, however, I did end up skipping through some of the adult scenes due to so much sex in the book. I love erotica as much as the next person, but sometimes too much sex takes away from the story.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I couldn’t give the book 5 stars due to some grammatical errors throughout the book. Also, the adult scenes started to almost take over the story. I wouldn’t give this book below 4 stars because it is written very well; the story line is very unique and intriguing. I would recommend this book to any sci-fi erotica romance lover, or even just romance in general. I think most people would fall in love with the characters and make them want to continue the series. I can’t wait to read the 2nd book in this collection.
